Data residency
Where is Coassemble data stored, and can I choose a region?
How Coassemble handles data residency, what the default storage region is, and the options available for region-locked deployments.
By default, all Coassemble data is stored and processed on US-based infrastructure, currently in Oregon, USA. This covers course content, uploaded documents, learner data, and AI processing.
For teams with data residency requirements, Coassemble offers region-locked server options in the EU, US and APAC. These are available on the Partner plan as part of a negotiated agreement.
What is the default data region?
All data is stored and processed in the United States (Oregon) unless a region-locked server is explicitly configured as part of your plan agreement.
What region-locked options are available?
Region-locked servers are available for three regions:
- EU (European Union)
- US (United States)
- APAC (Asia-Pacific)
When region locking is active, data is processed and stored within the specified region. This applies to course content, learner data, and AI processing.
Which plan includes region locking?
Region-locked servers are available on the Partner plan. They are not available on Build or Scale.
Region locking is configured upfront as part of your plan setup. It cannot be added after onboarding without starting a new account.
What about dedicated servers?
Dedicated servers (single-tenant environments) are also available on Partner and can optionally be region-locked. Self-hosting is available on request for teams with specific deployment requirements.
What encryption standards apply?
- Data at rest: AES-256
- Data in transit: TLS 1.2
Frequently asked questions
Can I change my data region after signing up?
No. Your server environment is chosen at the point of setup and cannot be changed after onboarding without starting a new account.
Does AI processing stay in the selected region?
Yes. When a region-locked server is active, AI processing happens within that region alongside the rest of your data.
Is a DPA available?
Yes. A Data Processing Agreement is available on Scale and Partner. On Partner, the DPA is folded into the full MSA. See trust.coassemble.com for security documentation and certifications.
