# How do I create a course from slides?

Upload a presentation and Coassemble converts each slide into an editable screen, keeping your wording intact. Best when your content is already finalised.

The Convert a presentation method turns existing slides into a course. Unlike transforming a document, which summarises and reformats, converting keeps your exact wording and your chosen images, so it's the right choice when your content is already reviewed and approved, like product, compliance, or policy material.

## Create the course

1. From your dashboard, select **Convert a presentation**.  
2. Select **Add file** and choose your presentation. Supported formats are **.ppt, .pptx, and .key**. If your file is a PDF or Google Slides, export it as a .pptx first.  
3. Wait for the file to upload and process.  
4. Select **Create course**. Coassemble converts each slide into an editable screen. If there are a lot of slides, it may suggest ways to split the content for a better experience.  
5. If prompted, choose whether to **include images** from your presentation, then import the ones you want.

## Customise and publish

In the editor you can edit the title, change the content on any screen, adjust the design and layout, and add quizzes or interactive elements. When you're ready, select **Publish**, confirm, and use **Preview** to check it as a learner would.

## A note on layout

Your text and images carry across, but Coassemble uses its own formatting system to keep courses mobile-responsive and accessible, so the layout won't match your original slides exactly, particularly for complex designs. Neatly formatted slides convert best.

### What file types can I convert?

PowerPoint (.ppt and .pptx) and Apple Keynote (.key). For PDFs or Google Slides, export to .pptx first.

### What's the difference between converting slides and transforming a document?

Converting a presentation keeps your wording word for word, ideal for finalised content. Transforming a document summarises and reformats it into a learning-designed course. Use convert to preserve exact content, and transform to reshape raw material.

### Will my slides look exactly the same?

No. The text and images carry over, but layouts are adapted to be responsive across devices, so they won't replicate your original slide design precisely.
