## Introduction

This article provides a comprehensive guide on how to create and manage collections of courses. By following these steps, you will be able to group related courses into a cohesive unit, complete with a title, image, and description. Collections are a great way to create structured learning paths.

Coassemble's collections feature streamlines course management by allowing users to group multiple courses together into thematic collections, simplifying the creation of learning pathways and the sharing of related content.

All users can create collections, but you will need to be on one of our paid plans to share them. Collections also cannot be accessed through the Headless API.

# Creating a Collection


1. From the main dashboard, navigate to the **Collections** tab on the left-hand menu.
2. Click on the **New collection** button located at the top right of the page.

   **Optional: Duplicate an existing collection**
   * From the Collections list, click the **three-dot (⋯) menu** on an existing collection and select **Duplicate**.
   * This creates a copy you can rename and edit, which is useful if you want to reuse a structure or learning path.

3. Click on the default **New collection** title to rename it to something more descriptive.
4. To add a header image, click on the icon with the plus sign and select an image from your library.
5. Click on **Add a short description here...** to provide context for the courses included in the collection.
6. To add courses, click the **Add courses** button. A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to select the desired courses from a list.
7. After selecting your courses, click **Add to collection**.

# Managing your collection

## Reordering your courses

You can easily change the order of your courses in your collection at any time.

* To reorder courses within a collection, simply click and drag a course module/card into your desired sequence in the collection grid or list.
* You can also select the **Reorder** button to the right, then click and drag the courses into an alternative sequence.

## Enforcing course order

If you'd like to create a clear learning pathway and ensure learners complete courses in a specific order, select **Enforce order** at the top of the screen and turn the toggle on. This means that viewers can't proceed through the courses unless the prior course is complete.

## Replace or remove a course from your collection

To swap or delete a course from your collection, follow these steps:


1. Select the three dots on the course card.
2. Choose **Replace** or **Remove**.

If you choose to replace your course, you'll be shown a modal that will allow you to select the replacement course. If you choose to remove the course, it will be instantly removed from your collection.

### What happens if I delete a course from my workspace?

If you delete a course from the courses dashboard, it will also be removed from the collection.

## Adjust the layout of your courses

You can choose to have a **grid** or **list** layout. You'll find this option under **Layout** at the top of your collection above your collection title. It's important to note that if you choose grid view, the layout will default back to list view when the collection is accessed on a mobile device as this is a better user experience.

## Display options

If you would like to hide the course counter, description or navigation bar, select **Display options** (the eye icon) to toggle these on or off.

# Customize your collection's appearance

## Collection theme

Similar to course themes, collections also have a theme. If you'd like to change your collection theme:


1. From within your collection, select **Design** at the top of the screen.
2. Adjust the colors and fonts of your collection. You can also add a logo to appear at the bottom of your collection.
3. Once you have adjusted the theme of your collection, select **Save changes**.

## Add an image

You can add an image above your collection title. This is a great way to thematically connect your courses. Click on the placeholder icon and you can choose to upload an image, select from your image library, or choose an image or GIF from Unsplash or Giphy.

## Course counter

The course counter is displayed beneath your collection title. If you’d like to change the word “Courses” to something else (like Modules or Topics), simply click on it and enter your preferred term. You can also adjust the position of the number, choosing to place it either to the left or right of the word.

## Navigation bar

The navigation bar indicates learner progress. Your viewers will use the collection navigation to start and resume courses when they enter the collection. You can edit the text that will appear on the button for New users (users who are entering the collection for the first time) and for Returning users (users who have already started working on the collection).

# Previewing your collection

Similarly to previewing your courses, you can preview your collection to see how it will appear to your learners across multiple devices.


1. In the top right corner of your screen, toggle **Preview** on to enter the Preview mode.
2. Choose the device you would like to preview your collection on. You can see how your collection will appear on a desktop, tablet or smartphone.
3. To exit Preview mode, toggle **Preview** off. This will return you to the builder.

# Sharing a collection

Share methods are identical to sharing a course. Note: Payment links aren't currently available for collections.

1. To share your collection, navigate to **Share** at the top of your collection. You can also share your collection from the Collection dashboard by selecting the three dots and selecting **Share**.
2. Choose whether anyone with the link can view the collection, only people you add/invite, or no one (this disables the link to the collection).
3. To copy the share link, select **Copy link**. If you would like to embed the collection on a website or other platform, select **Get embed code**.
4. Once you’ve copied the share link or embed code, paste it wherever you want to share your collection. You can send the link via email, post it on a website, invite people by email, or copy and share a link to your audience.

# Collection insights

You can access analytics for a collection to understand how viewers are engaging with the courses within it.

## How to open Collection Insights


1. From the main dashboard, navigate to the **Collections** tab in the left-hand menu.
2. Locate the collection you wish to analyze from the list.
3. Click the **Insights** button to the right of the collection's title (or open the collection and select **Insights** if available in the collection header).
4. A pop-up window will appear, displaying the **Collection summary**.

## Understanding the Collection summary

At the top of the Insights panel, you’ll see high-level metrics for the selected collection, such as:

* **Viewed** – The number of users who have opened the collection.
* **Started** – The number of users who have started at least one course in the collection.
* **Completed** – The number of users who have completed all courses in the collection.

Use these metrics to quickly gauge overall engagement and completion for the collection over the selected date range.

## Using the Progression funnel

Below the summary metrics, review the **Progression funnel** chart:

* This visualizes how viewers progress through the courses in the collection.
* You can see at which points learners tend to drop off, helping you identify potential friction points in your learning path.
* Consider adjusting course order, content length, or interactivity at key drop-off points to improve completion.

## Viewing individual usage within a collection

Insights for collections work similarly to course insights, but allow you to drill down into each course within a collection.

* Scroll down to the **Individual usage** section (if available for your plan).
* Click on a viewer to expand their details and see:
  * Which courses in the collection they’ve started or completed.
  * Their progress and time spent within each course.
  * Screen-level progress inside individual courses.

If a course is taken inside a collection, its insights won’t appear in the standalone course insights on the course dashboard; instead, they will be captured under the collection’s insights.

## Downloading collection analytics

You can download a .csv file of the collection insights to store or analyze offline.


1. In the Insights panel, set your desired date range using the date filter (e.g. **Last 7 days**, **Last 30 days**, **All time**, or a custom range).
2. Click the **Download** button.
3. A .csv file containing the summary, progression, and individual usage data for the collection over the selected date range will be generated.

While all users can create collections, sharing them is exclusively available to paid plan subscribers. Notably, collections will not be accessible through the Headless API.
