Follow these steps if you have an existing course and want to preserve its current look and feel within the new Brand kit system.

## Step-by-step instructions


1. **Open Course themes**

   Inside your course, locate and click the **Course themes** button (paintbrush icon) at the top of the screen.
2. **Review the prompt**

   You will see a message saying **"Your theme needs attention."** This indicates your current (legacy) theme needs to be saved into the new Brand Kit system.
3. **Select Save theme**

   To keep your current configuration, click the **Save theme** button.
   * **Important:** Do **not** click **Browse themes** if you wish to keep your current design, as this may result in being unable to save your legacy theme.
4. **Verify the Save**

   Once clicked, your theme will be saved as a **Default** theme in the list. This indicates your legacy course theme has been successfully preserved.
5. **Edit (Optional)**

   You can now access and edit your saved theme using the **Edit theme** option if needed.

## Troubleshooting Tips

* **“I lost my theme”**If you clicked **Browse themes** instead of saving, your legacy theme might not have been preserved. Always ensure you click **Save theme** first if you wish to retain the original design.
* **Can’t find the button.** Look for the **paintbrush icon** in the top navigation bar inside the course editor. This is the **Course themes** button.
* **“I am on a free plan and I changed my theme to a present”.** The Brand kit is a premium feature designed for our paid plans. While this update won’t change the look of your existing courses, any new courses created on a Free plan will now use our professional Coassemble presets. Please keep in mind that if you switch an existing course to a Preset theme and hit “Publish”, you won't be able to change the theme back without upgrading your workspace. Because we’re expanding our branding capabilities, including custom themes (and more brand kit features to come!), custom themes are now part of our premium offering. If you’d like to customize your own themes or edit your brand assets, you can upgrade your plan at any time.
