Use Pulse when knowing who is engaging with your content matters: new hire onboarding for a small team, partner training, customer education, compliance refreshers, department-specific rollouts, manager development programmes. Anything where you need to be able to answer "did this specific person actually take it?" rather than just "did anyone take it?".

## Who is Pulse for?

Pulse suits a department manager, HR teammate, or L&D professional moving from open knowledge sharing into running an identified learning programme. The audience you are training is typically known to you (employees, partners, specific customers) and the reason you are training them matters enough that you need a record.

## What you can do on Pulse

Pulse includes everything on Flow, plus:

**Require identification before someone opens a course.** Choose between asking for an email address before access, building a pre-determined list of who is allowed in, or capturing identity through Slack when you share via Slack. Each person who accesses content with their identity captured becomes an Identified Recipient, which is how Coassemble counts the people who actually engaged with your content.

**See per-person learner data.** Once people are identified, you can see who started, who completed, how long they spent, and how they scored on any quizzes. You can download reports as CSV for record-keeping or rolling up into other systems. Aggregate course views and sentiment remain available, the same as on Flow.

**Upload your own video files.** Host your own video files inside a course rather than only embedding Loom recordings or YouTube videos. Useful for proprietary content, training videos you own and want to keep inside the course experience, or anywhere you would rather not have your content depend on a third-party video platform.

**Use premium AI narration voices.** AI narration moves from the standard voice catalogue to the premium catalogue, which has a wider range of voices and accents. You can also set a brand voice (custom tone-of-voice settings for AI generation) and refine existing content with AI.

**Organise your courses and assets properly.** Folders let you group courses by team, audience, programme, or whatever scheme makes sense for you. Asset library management adds tags, alt text, and batch operations so you can manage a real image library, not just a pile of uploads.

**Modify themes and add your logo.** Create and modify themes, pick fonts from Google Fonts, and upload your logo. Pulse co-brands the recipient-facing experience: your logo appears alongside the Coassemble badge on both shared content and embedded surfaces.

**Embed courses inside your own product or website.** Pulse includes two embeddable surfaces: the Course Card (a tile that previews a single course) and the Course List (a browsable catalogue of courses). You can drop these into your product, intranet, customer portal, or any web page where you want a course catalogue to live alongside other content. Common use cases: an in-app onboarding shelf, a customer success dashboard tile that surfaces relevant training, a partner portal landing page with available courses.

A note on these embeddable surfaces: each one needs some development work to set up. Your system needs to know who the user is at page load, and your backend needs to request a per-user URL from our API. Pulse customers who don't have developer support available may find embeddables more practical to plan for once they have engineering capacity.

**Run scored quizzes.** Scored quizzes unlock on Pulse, alongside standalone screen and quiz generation outside of the full course-build flow.

**Enforce full video completion.** Stop learners from skipping through videos in a course, which matters for assessment-heavy or compliance content.

A few notes.

Identified Recipients are the people whose identity you have captured. On monthly billing, you get 50 per month, with the allowance resetting at the start of each billing cycle. On annual billing, you get a 14-month pool (700 IRs) you can draw from across the year, which gives you breathing room for uneven months.

If you go over your IR allowance, your account does not stop working. The extra IRs are tracked as overage and billed at the end of the period, on a tiered rate that gets cheaper per IR the further over you go (the first 500 above, then 501 to 2,000, then 2,001 to 5,000, then 5,001 and above). If you find yourself consistently in overage, Hub or Embed Core is likely a cleaner fit on the maths.

Anonymous views have a hard cap of 1,000 a month. If you reach it, anonymous sharing pauses for that billing period and you will see an in-product prompt with your options.

AI image generation during course creation is switched off by default on Pulse, the same as Flow. You can still generate images directly using the image tools in the builder.

## What Pulse does not include

The following features are **not available on Pulse**:

* Collections (grouping courses into structured programmes such as onboarding journeys or certification tracks)
* Domain locking and Slack channel sharing
* Coassemble badge removal
* Custom font upload (Google Fonts is available on Pulse)
* Ability to export SCORM packages
* Analytics embeddables (Course Analytics, Collection Analytics, User Analytics)
* Collection-related embeddables (Collection Player, Card, List)
* Limited retries on quizzes
* SCORM usage data in reporting
* Security documentation

Things that are available from Embed Core onwards:

* Course builder, collection builder, and screen builder as embedded surfaces inside your product
* Standalone SCORM
* API write operations and the Generate API
* Webhooks
* The full Coassemble API

## When to move from Pulse

The most common reason customers move from Pulse to Hub is wanting to organise content into structured programmes (Collections), remove the Coassemble badge entirely, or send content to an external LMS via SCORM. Hub also adds the three analytics embeddables, which surface engagement data inside your own product or dashboard.

If you are running into your IR allowance every month and overage is becoming a meaningful line item, talk to us. Embed Core moves you onto a usage-committed model that often works out cleaner at higher volumes.
