Course creation walkthrough

1min read

Share

A longer form walkthrough video showing the new course builder and Classic side by side, so you can see what changes for your users before you change anything in your integration.

The walkthrough below runs through the new course builder and Classic in the same sitting, so you can see what your users get when you set options.legacy to false rather than reading about it.

Course creation walkthrough 640x360

What the walkthrough covers

  • Starting a course. How a course begins in each builder, including the Verbatim, Structured and Adaptive options that decide how closely the new builder follows your user's source material.
  • How a screen gets built. Fixed screen types in Classic, where the type decides the shape and the content has to fit it, next to blocks on a six column grid in the new builder, where any block can sit on any screen.
  • Making changes. Editing through menus in Classic, next to describing the change to the agent in the new builder.
  • How a course is structured. Sections in the new builder, and what learners see as a result.
  • What your integration loads. The options.legacy flag, and why the course type and the builder have to match.

Who it's for

Your own team, before your users see any of it. It is worth the time for anyone who will answer questions about the change: support, onboarding, customer success, and anyone writing your own announcement. Nothing in it requires you to have switched anything on.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to change my integration to watch it?

No. Classic is what loads when you do not specify a builder, so your integration stays exactly as it is while you work out what you want to do.

Is Classic going away?

No. Classic courses stay in Classic and keep working, and both builders can run side by side in your product, chosen per session.
